Kids are Kids

There is something about the way I shoot families.

I don’t “sugarcoat” moments.

I let kids be kids. I let them be exactly who they need to be in that moment. I let them run away. Sometimes I chase them. Sometimes I don’t. I can almost always get them to giggle. Or get them to explore. Or get them to count or sing or hug. Kids RARELY sit still, their little bodies aren’t really meant for that and are much too excited about new locations, new things, different situations. But mostly kids are just themselves. Some are chill. Some are hard headed. And if I’m being honest, the hard headed ones are the ones that I relate to. I was quiet and shy and rarely spoke. But I almost always swam against the current, still do…… so I definitely get it, and in turn I’m pretty calm and I guarantee my patience will outlast theirs.

I met them in the mountains. Which in the spring in Wyoming can mean about anything. My first choice was still covered in 2 feet of snow, so we moved on. And found a nice little area, kind of out of the wind. Kind of not. The little ones got their energy out and the puppy did too (and found sooooo many burrs in his explorations)

Thank you guys for hanging out in the fresh air with me for a while!
