The First Second Baby

More often than not, my first shoot of the year is a baby.

A brand new baby.

(I’ve had the privilege of shooting the New Years baby three times in the last several years)

And it’s the perfect way to start my year.

New life. New beginnings.

Tiny fingers and toes and noses and heads that smell like baby shampoo. There is nothing like it.

And yes, sometimes newborns are challenging. More often than not, they don’t want to sleep. And over the years I have pretty much given up posing little ones too much. It’s not real to me. But cuddling on the bed and couch are. Toys strewn all over is. Cereal eating is. A toddler’s indecision about whether or not this new being in his house is going to be ok (and by the looks of it, I think it will be in this little guys house.) All of those things are real.

……………………..

Watching the lives of this little family change over the last few years has been just incredible.

As usual, life is pretty unpredictable and I can guarantee, that when I first met them, they could have never guessed that this is where they would be just a few years later. And where they are is perfect. They have the most adorable boys and a country life that I get to visit every now and again.

Thank you so much for letting me do that.
