What I Am Not

I would just  like to preface this by saying: I am not a wedding photographer.

However, I love to photograph couples. And engagements and people in love. And people that I love.

When these two asked if I would photograph their wedding I kindly declined. It’s just not a business that I want to get into.  But I told them that I would be happy to shoot a few “stacey j. ” photos after the fact. They thought that would be a pretty great idea.

I have known these two for years and years.  He is like one of the “brothers” of my family. One of my most fond memories of him was on my wedding day carrying around an ironing board where ever we needed it, among many other thankless jobs we gave him for four days straight.  Oh and also the time he fell asleep on my couch sitting up with a beer in his hand next to my brother in law in the exact same position.  (yes I have a photo, no I am not sharing it 🙂 ) She hasn’t been with us for quite as many years, but we welcome her with open arms.

I watched them pledge their love to one another on a beautiful summer evening.

And then I got to spend some time with just us.  And it was fun. And they thought I was bossy. And it rained.  And none of us really cared. And we laughed. And I was so happy for them.

Lots of love to both of you.

I am in awe of the quality of these photos. You captured them in ways only a picture can hold . . . those moments that are held forever in a picture.
