I don’t often update on the growth of the garden or how is changes over the course of the summer.
And now…. is harvest time.
I have yellow squash and zucchini coming out my ears. Trying to just keep up with it. It’s growing over the fence. I’m sure we will end up with pumpkins in our lawn. Which is fine with me….I won’t have to buy them then. The weeds are crazy and we can’t keep the grass out. (If anyone has any suggestions for this, please let me know…they are completely uncontrollable. ) But despite this, I have a very fruitful garden. And my raspberries, finally they are producing. At least a little bowlful a day now. That taste sweeter when you grow them.
And the things I don’t grow, or don’t grow that well…..have been given to me. (mostly by my Italian friend, who has successfully tried her thumb at gardening as well.) We share. We make. We eat. It’s awesome.
And if ít isn’t given to me…. I head to our farmer’s market on Saturday mornings when I’m not shooting. And I hang out there with my favorite little dino dude with a cup of coffee and a cup of chai for him. And the best smell in the world in the fall, is the smell of fresh roasted peppers at Farmer’s Market. We share. We eat. It’s awesome.
The flowers have done beautiful as well. I planted red sunflowers to match the outside of the house. They are finally blooming. The ants finally got their job done. (they help them open, if you grow them, don’t kill the ants on them or they won’t bloom)
