Oven Dried Apples

I have a rule at my house (yes, I am the law maker around here, kind of comes with the territory of mom hood. I am fun, but also not the one to cross.) After school snacks go in this order: healthy before garbage. Real food before processed food. That way he fills up before he even thinks about eating junk food. (And when I say junk food, I normally mean popcorn)

I had a ton of apples left over from decorations in September, I fill the house with apples and apple art to celebrate the beginning of the school year. So I needed to use them up and lets be honest, eating a plain apple isn’t all that fun all the time. So I dried them in the oven. (I have 3 dehydrators, but they are a pain and I would rather not dig them out of the pile in my crazy messed up basement right now, as phase two of remodel has commenced down there.)

So give these a try. They take very little effort.

And then while your at it, read Johnny Appleseed (you are never too old to read tales of American Legends, especially ones of what I would call, one of the first real “tree huggers”.)
