The Boy Who Loves Green

It’s his favorite color. Lime Green. But most any green will do when it comes to plaid shirts. He has approximately 35 different green plaid shirts.

I don’t pick his clothes out for him anymore.

It was one of those things that just stopped one day. When I told him it was up to him to decide how to look for the day. Much like the day he stopped wearing diapers. I ran out. And that was that. That’s how a lot of our phases have gone. One part ended. The next started. Just like that.  Easing into things has never been our thing.

As they get older you stop waiting with your camera in hand for all those every day special moments that are so big. Those huge changes that happen in the little years get fewer and farther between. They start changing more slowly. And then you start waiting for those exceptional moments. The big ones. And hopefully you have a camera.

And then somedays you look at them and think to yourself… “wow, his jawline, I can see what it will look like as a man, how is that possible? ”

We have a couple weeks without meetings and practices  and a few days with just nothing but afternoons together. I miss that. But am happy for a kid that likes to stay busy. He got a fresh haircut and he put on a fresh green plaid shirt. I just happen to have my camera and we stopped in a parking lot of a grocery store, with an interesting colored wall, so I caught him today. Being him. Commanding the camera with his eyes one minute, and laughing like an 11 year old boy the next 15.
