Don’t Wish It Away

Those times when your baby is crying uncontrollably, and you haven’t eaten in days because there just isn’t time to eat when you have a new little one in the house. Those times when you just wish they were older, able to tell you why they are crying. Those times… I promise you’ll miss them.

You’ll miss the way their little legs stick out from their diapers. You’ll miss the drooling. You’ll miss the funny sounds. You will.

I love all the stages. All of them. But I allow myself to miss the littleness. It’s Ok.

…….

You know how you buy your kids toys. All the awesome ones out there. All the ones that will enhance their learning and make then geniuses at age 2, and their favorite things to play with are in the Tupperware drawer and they end up running around the house with a plastic bucket on their head? Photoshoots are sometimes the same way. You can plan and have gorgeous clothing options perfect in every way, and the favorite pictures you choose are the most simple unplanned ones.

We already knew we would love that with this little guy.

We took the same kinds of photos with his brother almost 10 years ago when he was that age.

Simple.

Throw them on the bed with a box and a blanket and a bear just a diaper and we’re good to go.

I gravitate toward these. Their personality shows in their eyes. They will show me at that young age if they are serious, or ornery, or soft and gentle. I see it then. And I hope you can too. Because that’s my job.
