Praline Brownies and Jambalaya

The feast before the fast. That’s how we celebrate the beginning of lent. Fat Tuesday is always filled with wonderful foods and desserts and this year new cocktails (the Parade Time Cocktail was fantastic!, but the name was a little  long, we had to shorten it.) We also, of course had muffuletta sandwiches (my favorite)

I try to take the opportunity when we are celebrating to have a little lesson about why we are celebrating. So yesterday we learned about the colors of Mari Gras and their meaning (purple, green and yellow, why we celebrate fat tuesday and what happens the following day for Ash Wednesday.  And of course we did this while painting and coloring the fleur de leis.

The following recipe for Jambalaya is just a base recipe. You can add shrimp, you can add worcestershire  or hot sauce. You can add more cayenne if you want.
